Every year, dozens of members of the Scout and Guide movements in Chelmsford come together to produce and perform an exciting collection of singing, dancing and comedy at Chelmsford’s Civic Theatre.
Chelmsford Gang Show is made up from Cubs, Scouts Explorer Scouts, Network Scouts, Guides and Rangers, aged between 8 and 25.
April 2017 saw the 60th Chelmsford Gang Show. Over the years, hundreds, if not thousands of people have taken to the stage and have earned the show it’s coveted red scarf in recognition of the show’s quality.
Chelmsford Gang Show gives all of the young people involved in the Scout and Guide movements locally the opportunity to perform in front of large audiences in a professional theatre – something they might not otherwise get. During the rehearsals and performance week, the Gang also get chance to make friendships which in our experience will last for many years after they stop performing.
Behind the scenes, we have a dedicated team of volunteers who give up their time to take on various roles. Everything from production and choreography to lighting, set design and publicity is done by our volunteers in their spare time. We’re always grateful for any offers of help with the show so if you’re involved in Scouting or Guiding and would like to lend a hand, please get in touch.
We also rely on the support from local businesses and organisations. If you’re able to offer any help to our show, either in terms of materials and supplies or by purchasing advertising space in our programme, please let us know.
