Wednesday 28th April – Saturday 1st May 2027

It’s that exciting time of year again – we’re getting ready to meet our brand-new 2027 Gang! On Sunday 18th October 2026, we’ll be holding our very first session where new and returning members can come along and audition for a place in our 2027 Show.
Our show is open to anyone in Scouting or Guiding within Chelmsford, aged 10½ to 24 (as of the end of April 2027). You don’t need any stage experience – just bring along plenty of enthusiasm, a big smile, and a willingness to give it a go! Over the year, you’ll learn singing, dancing, comedy sketches and more, all while making new friends and trying something new.
Last year saw the introduction of our Junior Gang for the younger members of the cast; this year, we’re looking at creating a Senior Gang so that our older cast members can reduce the number of items they’re in, allowing them to concentrate on their studies.
Our Mini Gang, for Chelmsford’s Cubs, will be holding auditions in early 2027 – more details will be announced towards the end of this year.
Audition Details
This year, our first session will be an audition. That means not everyone will be guaranteed a place in the cast – but don’t worry, there’s nothing you need to prepare. During the session, you’ll have fun learning songs, simple dances and short sketches before showing us what you can do. This is different to the past few years where everyone has been given a place – we need to make sure we’re keeping the cast size to a suitable number whilst also being able to put on a great show.
Auditions will take place on Sunday 18th October between 3pm and 6pm – we’re still confirming the venue but we’ll be getting in touch with everyone who has registered before the day to confirm where to go.
Rehearsals
After auditions, rehearsals take place most Sundays from 1:45pm to 5:00pm at 2nd Chelmsford Scout Centre. We ask that all members commit to coming regularly, especially from February onwards when rehearsals become even more important. We know Scouting and Guiding can be busy, but to put on the best possible show, it’s vital that the cast attend whenever they can. If rehearsals are missed too often without a valid reason, unfortunately you may be asked to step out of the show. To be eligible, you’ll need to be an active Scout or Guider and remain so until the end of the performance week.
Cost to Join
To take part in the show, we ask for a contribution of between £45 and £55 per member, depending on if they’re in the Junior, Main or Senior Gang. This helps cover costume costs and also includes your exclusive show t-shirt and access to our professional show photographs. Payments are due by the end of October and can be made at rehearsals by cash, card or cheque, or online via a link that will be sent out after our first rehearsal. We never want money to be the reason someone misses out. If paying might be tricky, please have a confidential chat with one of the team – we’ll do our very best to help you find a solution.
